Russell Peters is a Toronto-born Canadian stand-up comedian of Anglo-Indian heritage and one of the most globally recognised South Asian comics. He began performing in Toronto in 1989 and broke through internationally in the 2000s with bits on race, immigrant families and accents. In 2007 he became the first comedian to sell out Toronto's Air Canada Centre, and he has since headlined arenas across North America, the UK, India, Australia and the Middle East. Forbes has repeatedly listed him among the world's highest-paid comedians, and he received a star on Canada's Walk of Fame in 2011.
