Career Start
Aravind SA, born Aravind Subramanian, is a Chennai-based stand-up comedian who built his audience on YouTube with sets that take apart and rebuild stereotypes about South Indians. He started out as an assistant director on the Tamil film Arrambam before moving to comedy full time, and his breakthrough special Madrasi Da, riffing on the Lungi Dance phenomenon, racked up tens of millions of views online. His follow-up tour I Was Not Ready Da was released on Amazon Prime Video, and he has since taken his We Need To Talk show across India, Australia and New Zealand. His material runs on self-deprecation, Chennai Tanglish and sharp everyday observation.
